Engineers from Northern Gas Networks will be carrying out essential repair work on a gas main on the A643 (near the Armley Gyratory) in Leeds next week.

In order to minimise disruption, initial investigations will be carried out on Monday 25 November and Tuesday 26 November between 8.00pm – 12.00am. Between these times it will be necessary to close the outside lane of the A643 at the junction with the Armley Gyratory.

Our highly skilled engineers will be returning to the area from 8.00pm on Thursday 28 November to commence the essential repair work.

In order to carry out this stage of the work safely and efficiently, it will once again be necessary to close the outside lane of the A643 at the junction with the Armley Gyratory, for the duration of the project. The work is expected to take up to seven days to complete.

Richard Hynes Cooper, Customer Operations Area Manager, Northern Gas Networks, said: “We have been working closely with Leeds City Council to minimise disruption to motorists. “Two teams of engineers will be working extended hours to complete the work as quickly as possible with as little disruption as possible.”

Mr Hynes Cooper added, “We would like to apologise to members of the public for any inconvenience caused whilst this essential maintenance work is carried out.”

You can contact the Northern Gas Networks Customer Care team on 0845 634 0508, option 7. The team is available between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am and 5pm on Saturday.

Anyone who smells gas should call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
